HHH Metrodome Information

HHH Metrodome
501 Chicago Avenue South • Minneapolis, MN 55415

The Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome is a domed sports stadium in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. It replaced the Metropolitan Stadium. The Metrodome is home to the Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Golden Gophers football and baseball and was home to the Minnesota Timberwolves and Minnesota Strikers at one time.

It is the only public stadium in the United States that doesn't rely on a continuing tax subsidy to finance it. Construction on the Metrodome began on December 20, 1979 and was funded by the State of Minnesota. The stadium was named in memory of former mayor of Minneapolis, U.S. Senator and U.S. Vice President, Hubert Humphrey, who died in 1978.

The Metrodome hosted the 1985 MLB All-Star game, games of the 1987 and 1991 World Series, and Super Bowl XXVI in 1992. It has also hosted the Final Four in 1992 and 2001 and was one of the four regional venues for the Final Four in 1986, 1989, 1996, 2000, 2003, and 2006.
