The Dave Matthews Band was created in 1991. Dave Matthews brought in drummer Carter Beauford, saxophonist LeRoi Moore, 16-year-old musical prodigy bassist Stefan Lessard, keyboard player Peter Griesar (who left the band in a couple of years), and violinist Boyd Tinsley.
