Can a newly-instituted spread offense and the continued growth of Coach Mike Stoops bring winning football back to Tucson? If they can keep junior quarterback Willie Tuitama healthy, there certainly is an opportunity to improve on 2006's 6-6 record; an idea all Arizona fans can rally behind. Are they ready to step-up and challenge the USCs of the world, probably not as of yet, but if Tuitama stays concussion-free and adapts the now en-vogue spread offense, the sky's the limit for the West Coast Wildcats.
One major benefit for Tuitama is he has experienced players around, including skilled players and linemen. The Arizona running game is also experienced, but in an odd manner. Senior Chris Jennings leads the ground attack but how he got this position is not what you would call standard. In 2006, Jennings walked on for the Wildcats and by game six, he was named the starter. In his first game with that designation, Jennings rushed for 201 yards. This immediately placed Jennings in the Arizona history books for having the 10th highest rushing total for one game. Fans should expect bigger things in 2007.
