Is this the season where Baylor finally does away with the ghosts that have been haunting the basketball team and put a winning product on the floor? That goal is definitely part of Coach Scott Drew's master plan. Coming off a 15-16 record, the Bears are looking to get back on the positive side of college basketball and with their young, but talented roster, this idea is certainly attainable.

As indicated, the talent level of Baylor's basketball team is steadily improving, the key to successful college basketball. Leading the way for the Bears is do-everything guard Aaron Bruce. As the talent level around Bruce has increased, his carry-the-team load has decreased. Now he can concentrate on hitting the long ball, a noted strength of Bruce's game. In fact, a great deal of Baylor's offense will be perimeter oriented as wing players like Curtis Jerrells, Henry Dugat, and Tweety Carter will give opposing coaches a lot to think about when it comes to defending the 3-point line.

Joining these four are newcomers Lacedarius Dunn, a 6-4 guard who has explosive scoring ability; Fred Ellis, a 6-6 wing who brings quickness and athleticism to the Baylor Bears; and JUCO transfer Delbert Simpson, a 6-8 forward who will bring some needed inside presence. Simpson joins the already respectable Kevin Rogers and Mamadou Diene in the post, giving them valuable inside depth.

While this team may not make a run to the Final Four (although, stranger things have happened), there is a definite improvement on the Baylor Bear basketball team, a program that's looking to move past some tragedies that have plagued the team. With Coach Drew's improving stable of talent, the Bears can certainly play spoiler in the competitive Big-12.
