The Bronx Zoo

With over 6,000 animals, the 265-acre Bronx Zoo is the largest city zoo in the United States. Cathedral of St. John the Divine

Begun in 1892, this magnificent stone structure, which is roughly the length of two football fields (larger than Notre Dame and Chartres combined), continues to be a work- in-progress and is likely still to be under construction decades from now. Concerts are frequently held here and guided tours are available.
The most impressive feature of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine is, without a doubt, its size. This building is huge! Tour guides for this cathedral proudly note that the Cathedral is the largest cathedral in the world and that the Statue of Liberty would fit comfortably under its central dome.
Central Park
An 843-acre wooded and landscaped oasis in the middle of the city. Ample room for in-line skaters, runners, joggers, horseback riders, bikers, bird watchers, nature lovers and practitioners of just about every other activity you can think of. The park includes lakes, a skating rink, a miniature golf course, tennis courts, softball fields, a swimming pool and even a carousel.
Coney Island
Disney World or Six Flags Great Adventure it ain't. For a refreshing alternative to corporate-owned amusement parks, take a day trip to Brooklyn's Coney Island. One of America's most celebrated beach resorts during the first half of the 20th Century, Coney Island remains a Mecca for summer fun even today.
The Empire State Building

The grand-daddy of all skyscrapers and now a National Historic Landmark, the Empire State Building, with its central Manhattan location, offers the best views of New York City. Try to go at night for great views and fewer crowds.
Still one of the world's tallest buildings, this New York icon was completed in 1931 -- a time when horses were still a major source of power on the construction site. Its famous Art Deco spire, visible throughout much of New York, is immortalized in countless movies.
Staten Island Ferry
You've heard it before, but it really is true: the free roundtrip ride on the Staten Island Ferry remains one of the best deals in town. The ride takes about an hour and provides unbeatable views of the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan skyline.
Guggenheim Museum
